WE FUND MEALS FOR CHILDREN IN KENYA 365 DAYS A YEAR
We are delivering a programme of supplementary nutrition for children in Kenya who, because of poverty, cannot meet their basic needs. We reach out with help to people we know personally. Many are struggling for a handful of beans, rice or maize, especially now that the prices of food in Kenya have grown so high. The war raging in Ukraine has sparked inflation that has not spared Africa. Another problem is the drought spreading poverty and causing more and more families and children to face malnourishment and starvation.
Responding to the call of Our Lord Jesus, ‘YOU GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO EAT!’ (Matthew 14:13-21), directed to His disciples, we too desire to reach with our help those needing our support the most.
Right now, the programme mainly covers children staying in Kenya’s children’s centres. In many of the centres the children’s diet is very poor and cannot provide appropriate nourishment. Our assistance also goes to families who cannot afford to purchase adequate food. In many Kenyan families there still continues to be only one meal per day.
Our Foundation wants to provide the children in children’s homes with regular, nutritious, varied and above all healthy meals. We want our children to be free of the constant uncertainty or lack of a sense of safety that they had often experienced before finding themselves in our care. Thanks to the support of people with boundless hearts we are observing positive change in the children’s lives. We become witnesses to how they grow, develop, become sick less often, become healthier, stronger and able to achieve their full potential, both at school and at play.
We also desire for them, after leaving the centres, to go back to their families or find other forms of alternate care, not to want for their "daily bread".
This programme is one of the projects that require systematic support. All year long, every day. For this reason we ask for regular payments that will provide the Foundation’s children with stable assistance. We need money to buy basic food products such as flour, rice, beans, maize, oil, fruit and vegetables.
